About EFAF

EFAF is the governing body of American Football in Europe and recognized as continental federation by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) for Europe. EFAF has 30 national federations as members and is representing more than 100.000 individual members in whole Europe.
EFAF is organizing the European Football League (EFL) with its final game EURO BOWL, a national champion club team competition, the EFAF Cup as top level club team competition and the European Championships for national teams in various categories.

Major events are televised live on EUROSPORT, EUROSPORT 2 and domestic broadcaster e. g. ORF (Austrian National Broadcaster).
The Final Game of the 2010 European Championships took place at the Commerzbank Arena at Frankfurt am Main (Germany), a state of the art multifunctional soccer arena which was used for FIFA Soccer World Cup 2006.

Its Aims and Goals ...

  • to promote and develop the game of American Football, Flag Football, Cheerleading and all related activities in Europe
  • to reinforce and develop amicable sport relations between the member associations
  • to organize and develop European competitions, tournaments and games
  • to encourage and increase information, communication and international exchange

Membership is open to national federations including a minimum of five teams in a league with published schedule of national competitions and a minimum of one year of activities for the league.

EFAF member federations (recognized associations in Europe controlling American Football and related activities at national level) are fully independent and responsible in all their national matters.

Annual tournament for top level club teams.
Eurobowl Final
Comprised of the two top teams from an 16 team knock-out tournament.
The winner is crowned: European Champion.

European Championship for National Teams (Seniors)
Bi-annual championship for the national teams of member federations.
European Championship for National Teams (Juniors)
Bi-annual championship for the junior national teams (under 19 years of age) of member federations
European Championship for National Flag Football teams

Annual Tournament held for National Federations (Cheerleader Associations)
